Boathouse Row, located along the Schuylkill River just northwest of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is one of the most popular sights in the city. Believe it or not, there was talk in the mid 70s of tearing down the boathouses due to decay. In 1979, lights designed by Ray Grenald were installed to make them more noticeable and appreciated….a great success as they were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 with their future secure.
